At the end of each Thursday Thoughts virtual class at M2B Fitness, I share a Post-it Note Thought of the Day.
I call it that because my desk is covered with Post-it Notes filled with all kinds of thoughts, sayings, quotes, and just about anything else I want to remember.
I wanted to share one of those Post-it Note thoughts with you:
“Spread joy. In order to spread joy, you must first have joy. It’s like fertilizer—you have to have it before you can spread it.”
As we enter the holiday season, I thought this was a great thought of the day. It challenges each of us to have joy within ourselves before we can give it to others.
To experience joy individually, we must decide what brings us joy and, more importantly, intentionally seek out those things.
Sometimes, I believe we think joy should find us when, in reality, we should become joy-seeking individuals on high alert.
Looking for joy in an ordinary moment.
Looking for joy during a challenging season.
Looking for joy in unexpected places.
Looking for joy with intention.
If you lose a set of keys but never look for them, guess what?
You will never find them.
The same is true for joy. If we never look for it, we may never recognize it—even when it is right in front of us.
My challenge to each of us is to look for and find our joy so that we can spread it like fertilizer.
Fill yourself with joy, and then let it spill over into the lives of others.
