Since moving to my training studio a few months ago, I hooked up an Echo Dot to play music. All Echo Dots come with Alexa; you just have to say her name and tell her what you want to listen to, set a timer, and know all kinds of things. I changed my Alexa’s name to Ziggy because I thought it was different and more fun.
Since moving to the new studio, when clients come in, I ask them what type of music they like, and then I tell Ziggy to bring up their favorite music. She plays my client’s favorite music without hesitation and in an Australian accent.
The exciting thing about the music each has individually chosen is that they love hearing it, but without fail, each one talks about the memories from a song they hear that comes on.
Music invokes memories and emotions in all of us. It has the amazing power to transcend us to a time of happiness, sadness, joy, excitement, and even change.
My challenge to each of us is to take the time to listen to the sound of music and allow it to have power over us. Remember that special moment, remember the teardrop that fell, remember the joy we couldn’t contain, and remember the moment the song changed everything for us.
Crank up the music and transcend back in time!
