I have a playlist titled Faith Builder. When I hear a song that moves me and strengthens my faith, I add it to the list. It started with one song, and over time it’s grown to nearly twenty—each one speaking to me in different ways depending on where I am in my spiritual walk.

Last Thursday, I decided our theme for small group treadmill class would be Sunday Morning Playlist. I pulled about six songs from my Faith Builder collection to build the class playlist.

The first tread class was at 5 a.m. I nervously hit play and turned up the volume.

Twenty minutes later, we finished the class—and the playlist—and everyone loved it.

For the next six tread classes that day, I hit play again… and again… and again. Every class loved it.

The responses I received in person and through text were:

“That playlist was amazing.”

“The words were the strength I needed today.”

“I was uplifted all day.”

“Thank you for sharing those songs.”

“I didn’t know I needed that today.”

So why was I so nervous?

Stepping out and sharing some of my Faith Builder songs stirred up all the “what ifs.” I could have listed the negative what-ifs to the nth degree from my inner voice.

Instead, I stepped out in faith and hit play.

Because of that one scary, faithful step, many were blessed last Thursday in ways I never expected.

My challenge to each of us is simple: take the scary step of faith. We never know how many people might be affected when we move past the “what ifs” and choose obedience instead.

And just like last Thursday, sometimes the one most affected by our faithful step is ourselves.

I was blessed over and over again as I heard each song—reminded why it made the Faith Builder playlist in the first place.
