Hard to believe tomorrow is the first of November already. The year has sped by and the holiday season is about to begin.

During November we often hear about gratitude and thankfulness and often are encouraged to reflect on our own thankfulness over the past year. Often we reflect on what we may have, the accomplishments we achieved, or the people in our lives.

As I began to reflect and think about the things or people I had to be thankful for I began to wonder about being thankful for the people around me that I can serve.

How often do we think to be thankful for having the ability, time, energy, or money to be able to serve those around us? Sometimes we may look at some of those moments as a nuisance or inconveniences.

Those are the times I think we should be thankful that we were able to serve others needs by using our gifts, whatever those gifts may look like.

Yes, it is wonderful to reflect and be thankful for what and who we have in our life but I believe it is a far greater blessing to be able to reflect on how we can serve others.

My challenge to each of us in the coming holiday season and into the next year is to become a little more servant minded to be constantly asking the question, how can I better serve others. I believe with just that one simple question we can not only help change the lives of others but also enrich our own lives.
