When was the last time you had sex with your spouse?

I’m sure you’re thinking, “That’s a very personal question.” You’re right — it is. But I’d bet the answer came to mind pretty quickly.

Now, when was the last time you prayed with your spouse out loud — and not at meal time?

I’ll give you a minute to think about it.

Is the answer coming quickly?
Or are you struggling to remember the last time?

Here’s a shocking statistic:
Research shows that less than 4% of Christian married couples pray out loud together.

If you can’t remember the last time, or your answer is “no,” you’re not alone. You’re among the other 96% of Christian married couples.

Meanwhile, divorce rates are rising — over 50% for first marriages, over 70% for second marriages, and over 80% for third marriages.

I’m guessing that in all of those marriages, couples were having sex. What they weren’t doing was praying together.

Here’s the incredible part:
Those divorce rates can drop to 1% when couples do just one thing — pray out loud together.

One spiritual act of a Christian husband and wife coming together in prayer changes everything. Just as a husband and wife want communication with one another, God desires communication individually and together as a couple.

Physical intimacy between a husband and wife usually comes naturally.
Spiritual intimacy often takes intention.

Sometimes it may need to be done in the dark.
Sometimes with eyes closed.
Sometimes with the door shut.
Sometimes in the morning.
Sometimes before bed.

The challenge is simply to be intentional about your spiritual intimacy, no matter when or where it happens. Spiritual intimacy brings husband, wife, and God together at the exact same moment — creating a space for honest communication and open hearts.

Your 30-Day Challenge

Kim and I took this challenge five years ago, and we haven’t missed a day since. Our marriage is stronger than it has ever been in the last 21 years.
