Are you a prisoner?

I am betting you are saying you are not a prisoner. You’re not behind bars. There is no fence with barbed wire surrounding you. You are free to come and go as you please. There are no armed guards watching your every move.

Are you stuck at a job that dictates your every move?

Are you stuck in a career where the passion is long gone and just going through the motions?

Are you in a relationship that is not working and don’t know how to get out?

Are you in a daily routine that you can’t break free from?

You could be a prisoner of the life you have created. Sometimes being in a prison is one we have created where we feel safe being in. Doesn’t mean we like being in the place, it just means we feel safe because the place is familiar.

What would breaking out of our self made prison feel like?

Outside our prison could be scary. There are unknowns in another job, career, relationship, routine, and experience. The barbed wire that surrounds our prison is a fence full of “what ifs”. We are scared to cross the “what ifs” barbed wire to seek the unknown. The “what ifs” are sharp and threaten to cut us deep if we try to jump over them.

I challenge each of us to jump over our “what ifs” barbed wire and take the chance to live outside our prison walls to see the beauty of life that welcomes each fleeing prisoner.

Prisoners unite and take a running leap over the fence and jump into the unknown to create a new life of freedom.
