“Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” – Budda
When I read this quote, I could imagine thousands of candles being lined up and lit by one single candle. How powerful is that image?
Then I thought each candle being lit could light thousands more and the flames would never diminish. The compound effect of just one candle is astonishing.
Each one of us has the same ability as just one candle does. What could be the compounding effect of our lives on others?
My challenge to each of us this week is to be the candle that gives light to others. Giving that light doesn’t take away from us but shines on someone else that they then might give light to another.
Sharing the light starts with one.
