Over the weekend, my grandsons came to visit with their parents. We had the best time with them and all the busyness around the house.
Yesterday, I was in my recliner working on my laptop when my oldest grandson, Cal, crawled up into my lap to have a snack and watch tv. My laptop instantly closed without a thought.
When my kiddos were three, the age Cal is now; my work didn’t instantly stop when they crawled up in my lap. I would often say I am busy; sit with me for a little bit when I am done. Those days of them wanting to sit with me came to an end, and I missed many opportunities with them in those small moments.
When I had grandkids, I promised myself that I would not miss those moments again because I was too busy. I realized that one day, they would stop and never come again.
My challenge to each of us is to learn from the lessons life teaches us so that we do not repeat those mistakes we may have made.
