Good Morning Friends!!
I read the following this week, “Nobody wants to tell you why discipline is so important. Discipline is the strongest form of self-love. It’s ignoring current pleasure for bigger reward to come. It’s loving yourself enough to give yourself everything you’ve ever wanted.”
When I read the above, I thought of my kids. Any time they were disciplined when they were younger, it was to teach them that the current thing they did was wrong. They were disciplined for it at the time so that they would know the right thing to do in the future, and it would become easier to do the right thing. We disciplined our children because we loved them and wanted what was best for them in the future.
Sometimes, I believe we do not love ourselves enough to have discipline. We are not willing to ignore current pleasures for the greater rewards in the future.
We want that tasty food now and later complain because we have gained weight.
We are too tired to go to the gym, and later, we complain we have so little energy.
We are too busy to learn a new skill, but later, we complain because we are tired of our jobs.
The list of I want now and complaining about what we have goes on and on.
I challenge each of us to practice self-love and discipline for those things we may want now in exchange for a greater reward later. Everything we have ever wanted is just a disciplined moment away.
Your Friend,
Aaron
