Last week, at the end of Sunday school, the teacher shared a mic-drop moment. We had been discussing holiness and what that looks like in the everyday, ordinary moments of life.

As we were wrapping up, he said, “I’ll leave you with a little phrase I’ve used all my life…”

“Be a rat turd in a sack of flour.”

Mic drop.

That short phrase has stuck with me since the moment he shared it. I’ve already repeated it several times because it applies to so many areas of our lives. Simply put, it means: stand out in the crowd—stand out so much that you can’t be missed.

My challenge to each of us this week is to be a rat turd. Not many times in life do you get a challenge like that.

Be a rat turd in your relationships, your friendships, your marriage, your career, your community—the list could go on and on.

Find your sack of flour… and stand out.
